  1. I believe that he's saying that if you have enemies it means you stood up for something and you accomplish it.

  2. I wonder if it's possible to stand up for things *without* making enemies... I guess unimportant things, like if we should have soda in the cafeteria, you could get into without making people mad, but getting into politics or moral judgments, people might get really upset.
